Butler High School students that are participating in the Dual Credit Program through UCM, we will be having a meeting August 14th at 2:00 in room 114. This will be considered your orientation meeting through the college and they will cover important topics such as how to use/ set up your email, how to pay your bill, etc. PLEASE BE THERE! If you have any questions or concerns, contact Laci Seider in the Counseling Center.
UCM Dual Credit students: Please see below, if you are not currently taking a dual enrollment class you may disregard this message.
UCM will NOT be sending invoices via email for classes. These will be mailed to your home address in September. If you have received an email stating that you have an invoice, do NOT open it and please contact the Counseling Center ASAP. UCM has been experiencing phishing scams. Please read the notice below from UCM.
UCM students, faculty and staff are being targeted in email, telephone and text phishing scams that have resulted in UCM and personal email accounts being compromised. The perpetrators, also referred to as bad actors, responsible for the compromised accounts are then sending emails to other UCM students with the intent of obtaining personal information to compromise other accounts. The current phishing attacks are telling students they have been removed from a class and providing a link to remedy being removed from the class. This is not a valid link and is not coming from UCM advisors, faculty or staff.
While these emails appear to be sent from a legitimate UCM email account, they are not because the accounts have been compromised by the bad actors. The text messages and phone calls can appear to be legitimate as well, but again, they are coming from the bad actors. UCM will NEVER request login credentials, personal information, banking information, etc. via email, text or phone call.
If you have interacted with any of these emails, text messages or phone calls by clicking on a link, entering any account information, entering credentials, confirming any information or anything else, please reset your UCM email account password and your personal email password immediately. If you've not already done so, to help secure your UCM account.
We also recommend you visit the Office of Technology security page to learn more about "Avoiding Social Engineering and Phishing Attacks."
